MANI MATTERS: Ratnam will start shooting for the film in September with Abhishek and Aishwarya.

Mumbai: After Guru, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai will team up again for director Mani Ratnam's next venture. Based on real life characters, the movie will be an intense love story.
This will be Abhishek and Ratnam's third film together. After the terrific partnership they shared during Yuva, which Abhishek describes as his career's first turning point, and Guru, which he acknowledges as his second important film, it doesn't require much calculation to see the creative and commercial viability of the Abhishek-Ratnam pair.
Ratnam will start shooting for the film in September with Abhishek and Aishwarya.
According to a source close to the project, "It's going to be a very intense love story. Guru was more of a biopic with a cavalcade of characters claiming screen space, but this film will focus primarily on the romance. It's a very intense film and Mani's most romantic film to date. It is based on real life characters."

Sexy siren Mallika bags role in Christ film

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat will play an ascetic who befriends Jesus of Nazareth in a US film that revolves around a legend that he visited India.
Filmmaker Drew Heriot's The Aquarian Gospel is about Jesus' life between the ages of 13 and 30, a period not documented in the Gospels when legend has it that he travelled through India, Tibet and Persia.
Heriot said Sherawat had been the first choice to play the role of the ascetic in the $15-million film, set for release in 2009.
"After viewing her work, we then saw interviews of her and were extremely impressed by her intelligence and her background," Heriot told Reuters in an e-mail over the weekend.
Sherawat created a stir in her Bollywood debut with 17 kissing scenes in Khwahish. She also played the role of an Indian princess in the Jackie Chan film The Myth.

The actress said it would be a challenge to bring to life her character as a female yogi in The Aquarian Gospel. "I find that in most mythological and spiritual film stories, women seem to be lacking any true wisdom or a sense of humour," Sherawat said in a statement released by her publicist.
"I look forward to bringing both of those qualities to this character." The director said he was going ahead with the film despite knowing it would provoke debate.
"The overall response has been one of intense interest, and we feel that in light of all the recent ancient scriptural discoveries, there is no better time for a film project," Heriot said.

When Enrique received a suitcase full of panties

Washington: Latino singer Enrique Iglesias once arrived home from a visit to Venezuela and discovered that a woman had stolen his clothes from his suitcase and replaced them with her panties.
The Hero hitmaker was amazed that an admirer would think he wanted a bag full of her panties.
"This was at the beginning of my career, when I was starting to do well, and I got home and opened up my suitcase and all my clothing was gone and it was all full of panties,” Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
"Someone in the hotel room - I don't know if it was a cleaning lady or whatever - stole all my clothing and stacked it (suitcase) up with panties.
"I thought it was strange: `Why would somebody steal my clothing and stack the bag with panties?' They were big thongs; this was a big lady,” he added.

IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi and key BCCI official IS Bindra, also the grounds and infrastructure chairman of the IPL, reached the hotel for the bidding earlier this morning. Former India captains Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid also arrived even though they would not be part of the auction because of their 'icon' status. Eminent bowling coach TA Sekar, who has been roped in to look after Delhi Daredevils' cricket operations, was spotted, as was VB Chandrashekhar, who is here as a selector with the Chennai franchise. It is for the first time ever that international cricketers from around the world are up for grabs by the eight city-specific franchises. The franchise owners - ranging from top industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Vijay Mallya to Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, have bid for several top names in international cricket. The auction is a private one which is conducted by an independent professional auctioneer Richard Madley who will be the sole arbiter to all aspects of the auction. The biggest buzz though has been the Biggies - the superstars are worth anywhere from US$ 600,000- 800,000. The favourites for sure will fill seats in the stadiums across the nation.
IPL's Twenty20 cricket championship will be played between April 18 and June 1 among the eight city teams in various parts of the country.

Ganguly, one of IPL's icon players will be playing for Kolkata, whose franchise has been bagged by Khan's production house Red Chillies Entertainment. Ganguly and SRK are believed to have deliberated team composition ahead of the big auction of players.
Ganguly's meet with Khan came close on the heels of Pakistan's paceman Shoaib Akhtar's meeting with the King Khan.
The biggies...

Britney to marry again?

Trouble never seems to leave Britney Spears as the popstar has been courting one controversy after another. This time she has been seen prompting speculations about whether there is another wedding on the cards especially after the singer was spotted at a bridal boutique.
After lying low on Valentine's Day, Britney Spears resurfaced for another eventful shopping spree at a wedding store in Los Angeles accompanied by her mini entourage and about 45 paparazzi pals. Wearing an animal print top, the troubled pop star browsed dresses at a designer bridal-gown boutique. Interestingly enough, it is said that while shopping Britney may have forgotten to pay for the clothes she changed into and wore out of the store, as she left with a black top over her original outfit.
Curiously, Britney was seen revisiting her 2004 wedding look, where she was spotted in public wearing her old wedding dress -- the one she got married in to her second husband Kevin Frederline. The grand occasion was a visit to a car showroom, with her current boyfriend -- Adnan Ghalib -- for whom she is said to be shopping for a car.
It is not known if the words 'I do' are on Britney's mind, however, from the looks of it, she is definately thinking of dress rehearsals to walk down the aisle for the third time.
