Onus on govt to maintain peace:
MNSRaj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has virtually warned the government saying that the onus of maintaining peace in the state is on the government after the leader's arrest.Meanwhile, over 40 incidents of stone pelting, wherein one person died, were reported from Nashik, even as the state government claims of adequate preventive measures across Maharashtra.Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said inciting people on regional grounds for political mileage will not be tolerated. He also said that the police were fully geared up to meet any eventuality in aftermath of the arrest of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi. The government is ready to face any backlash of the arrest as it is performing the basic duty of upholding the Constitution, said Patil without naming them.He said that strict instructions were given to police top brass at a meeting at the state secretariat today to act sternly against those inciting violence.Police have enough evidence to proceed in the two cases, said Patil who is also the Home Minister.Replying to a question, he said the state government had, on its own, sought additional forces from the Centre.
