The day when Pakistan braces itself for polls, the Pak police have said that the Taliban commander -- Baitullah Mehsud -- was the mastermind behing Benazir Bhutto's assasination.
The Pakistan Police have also claimed that they hold 'solid evidence' against the commander. The head of the Pakistani police team probing Benazir Bhutto's assassination, has accused Baitullah Mehsud for orchestrating and financing her killing. Pak police said that they have arrested five people in connection with the assasination and they have revealed that Mehsud approved the plan to kill Benazir.
Police said that the suicide bomber killed who killed Bhutto, after an election rally in Rawalpindi in December 2007, last met Mehsud few weeks before the attack. Pakistan police have also divulged that Mehsud -- the Chief of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, based in South Waziristan -- had given Rs 4,00,000 to a cleric named Qari Ismail, who is believed to have sent five militants to Rawalpindi to kill Bhutto. According to the pak police, the militants planned to target Bhutto in various cities until they finally succeeded in killing her.
