HELLO, IS IT ME YOU ARE LOOKING FOR? THE APPROACH

If you have decided the kind of person you want to date, you better get cracking at finding him/her. Places to look for your Valentine! DISCOTHEQUES, PUBS & RESTAURANTS It is one of the best places to find interesting people but the hardest place to actually speak to them. The Approach: The best way to attract that special one’s is by simply smiling at them. No, not that ear-to-ear grin but a nice half smile. If they smile back you know they are hooked. If he/shes in a group, start dancing or pick a table close to them. Keep in mind that in discs and bars girls are expecting to be hit on. So be different. Once you have their attention go over and say a Hi and introduce yourself. Leave the pick up lines to the losers. Note of caution: Please make sure the object of your desire is single and available. You don’t want a black eye days before Valentine, do you? IN A SHOPPERS’ PARADISE The Approach: If he / she is standing by a certain product in the supermarket, look cute & confused and say, "I really cannot decide which one is better. Have you tried any of these?" Or "what do you think?" And boys, steer clear of using this line near washing powders (unless you are sexist), toiletries (unless you are gay) and the pharmacy (she doesn’t need to know you got the runs). At a clothes store, girls you can walk up to the guy and say ’I’m looking for a gift for my brother / cousin and he is about your size. Can you please try this on?" A great ice-breaker. Word of caution: Pick up a cheap tee as you may actually have to buy it to make it look authentic. Guys don’t try this unless you want to come across as a lech / pervert. Note: Don’t miss a chance at either a pub or shop because you might never see the person again! ON A SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE A cute picture and you are hooked. The Approach: Begin by being as true and as complete as you possibly can be on your own profile. If you find someone you like take some time to go through his/her complete profile rather that just the pictures. If you find something you both have in common send a message saying something like "I notice you are a Spongebob fan too. My fav. episode is the one where..." This shows that you aren’t one of those I-want-to-make-friendship kind of people. And I cannot stress this enough, watch those spellings! IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD (Includes bus stop, college, their balcony, etc.) As Hannibal Lecter said in Silence Of The Lambs, "We begin by coveting what we see everday". The Approach: Search high and low for a common friend / acquaintance to introduce you both! Everybody loves guarantees. If that common element is missing then you have to make it on your own. If he / she has never noticed your existence then don’t pounce on them the first time they make eye contact. Hold their gaze a leeeetle longer than usual and then look away. Try that a few more times then add a half smile to the . Once they start seeking out your eyes, go up to them and introduce yourself. Remember here confidence is the key because he / she isn’t really expecting to be asked out.
